Chamber Choir invited to perform world premiere piece of music
The Chamber Choir took part an exhilarating experience on Saturday evening, performing the world premiere of Five Beacons of Light, by award-winning composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad. They sang amongst a Worcestershire schools' collective choral society of around 100 singers, alongside professional choir Sonoro, members of the English Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Neil Ferris.
The piece charts the historical founding of lighthouses around the UK, and makes us think about the natural world and our planet's future with warnings aplenty of our responsibility to look after our surroundings better.
Worcester Cathedral was packed out to hear this new work, which was very inspiring to perform. Our pupils also loved meeting the composer, and librettist Di Sherlock. A really special event, and one which will live in the memory for a long time.
